Because my role involves visiting each of our three resorts on a regular basis, it means I’m lucky enough to see each of them at different times of year.
So while I have memories of a very frosty day in Bognor Regis, fog so thick in Skegness you couldn’t see the sand from the beach gate and a stormy afternoon in Minehead, thankfully at this time of year our resorts look glorious as the sun and blue skies bring them to life.
In fact you could say they are blooming – literally!
That’s because it’s at this time of year that the all-year-round hard work of our gardening teams really come to the fore as all three resorts are resplendent amid stunning flower beds, delightful hanging baskets and lush green lawns.
If you are joining us on resort through July and August, take the time to have a look at some of the wonderful colour our gardeners bring to your break. It doesn’t just happen by chance either – many months of planning and preparation go into making sure our resorts look (and smell) of summer flowers.
For instance, did you know that in total we have planted more than 46,500 flowers this year? Or that our three resorts house a total of 650 hanging baskets?
All our gardeners will tell you it’s a labour of love – and if, like me, you find cutting your own back lawn an onerous task, don’t under-estimate the amount of work that goes into making sure that the 82 acres of lawn at Bognor Regis, Minehead and Skegness are kept trimmed and watered so they maintain that wonderful green colour.
As the borders bloom, the baskets burst with colour and the lawns look lush, it’s another sign that Butlin’s is getting ready to welcome you this summer. And if you see one of our gardeners during your break, maybe thank them for the part they play in making your break that bit extra special.
See you soon!
