Have you ever thought of an invention that you would use in everyday family life? Well now’s your chance to jot that idea down in the form of a comment, drawing or diagram and send to us via  Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using #RealFamilyInventions.

An independent judge will pick their favourite inventions to win the main prize and four runner up prizes.

SAM Labs makes learning feel almost too much like playing! Maker of educational technology kits to learn coding, engineering, and DIY, SAM teaches incredibly complex concepts through a hands-on and visual approach. Without any prior knowledge of coding or programming, you can program the SAM building blocks by connecting the dots in the SAM Space app to form wireless circuits.

Within the app, circuits can be customised with dynamic elements and inventions can even be internet connected. With a wide range of sensors and actuators, a diverse range of add-ons within the app, and endless projects to complete, SAM provides for endless hours of open ended play and creativity.

Terms & Conditions:

  1. The “Promoter” of the prize draw is Butlin’s. Butlins Skyline limited, 1 Park Lane, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, HP2 4YL. Registered in England No. 04011665 and SAM Labs Ltd whose registered office is at 25a Lime Wharf, Vyner Street London, England E2 9DG

  2. The Promoter and all entrants acknowledge that Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are in no way responsible for the administration or execution of this competition and this promotion is not sponsored or endorsed by Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.

  3. The competition runs from 10am 1st September 2016  to  midnight 11 September 2016. Entries after this date will not be counted.

  4. All winners will be announced no later than the 30th September 2016.

  5. To enter you must submit a written description or a photo of a drawing / diagram depicting your idea of an invention that you would use within family life. You can enter either by Tweeting us your written entry or photo via Twitter,  uploading your photo to Instagram with the hashtag #RealFamilyInventions or leaving your written entry as a comment on our of our Instagram posts with the hashtag or add your photo or written entry as a comment under one of the Real Family Inventions posts on Facebook with the hashtag #RealFamilyInventions. This Competition is open to United Kingdom residents aged 13 and over only, excluding employees of Bourne Leisure, Butlins Skyline Ltd., their immediate families, their agents, or anyone professionally associated with this promotion.

  6. Entries must be the original work of the author. Entries which are or appear to be plagiarised will be disqualified. Entries (including but not limited to text and photographs) for this competition must not contain any content that is defamatory, libellous, racist, homophobic, derogatory, pornographic, obscene, sexist, illegal, and/or otherwise inappropriate. Entrants must not do anything illegal and/or dangerous and/or that would put themselves or others at any risk. You must get the prior consent of anyone who features in your entry.

  7. The competition is open to residents of the United Kingdom aged 13+ years or over except employees of SAM Labs Ltd or Butlins Ltd and their close relatives and anyone otherwise connected with the organisation or judging of the competition.

  8. Any entrant under the age of 18 must obtain a parental/guardian consent to enter into this promotion. The winner under the age of 18 will be required to provide a written parental/guardian consent that he/she was allowed to enter into this promotion and can accept the prize.

  9. There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this competition.

  10. All entries submitted via Facebook, Twitter or Instagram will have equal chance at winning either the 1 x main or 4 x additional prizes.  

  11. There is no limit on the number of different #RealFamilyInventions entries you can submit.

  12. Entries will be judged by an independent person and the winning images will be those we deem to be the most creative and would genuinely be useful or fun to have in real family life. Judges decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.

  13. There will be 1 x main prize which is a SAM Labs Make Kit

  14. There will be 4 x additional prizes SAM Labs Inventor Kits.

  15. The promoter is not responsible for inaccurate prize details supplied to any entrant by any third party connected with this competition.

  16. Butlin’s will contact the winners directly via direct message on social media. The winners must send a direct message to Butlin’s via social media with their name and address within 72 hours of being chosen – Butlin’s will send your prize to this address within two weeks of receiving these details. The address must be based in the UK. If we do not hear from you within 72 hours your prize will be forfeited. Prize is subject to availability and we reserve the right to offer an alternative prize of equal or greater value.

  17. Entrants will retain copyright in their submitted entries, however, by entering, all entrants licence the Promoter a worldwide royalty-free perpetual licence to edit, publish and use each entry in any and all media (including print and online) for publicity and news purposes.The Promoter reserves the right to publish entries (including parts of entries) other than the winning entry and publication does not necessarily mean the entrant has won a prize.

  18. The Promoter sharing a photo on their social channels that was submitted using the #RealFamilyInventions hashtag does not indicate that the entrant has won a prize.

  19. The prize(s) is non-transferable and there are no cash alternatives to the prize in whole or in part.

  20. Winners will be required to participate in reasonable publicity relating to this Promotion (any online/printed publicity featuring the winners’ first name, prize, and photographs).

  21. Butlin’s reserves the rights to change these T&Cs at any time.
